Dear David
It has been a while since I was last in touch with you and I am now contacting you with some very exciting news!! We successfully used the data you collected during our Bathing Birds study to publish our first paper “Avian assemblages at bird baths: A comparison
of urban and rural bird baths in Australia”.
You can download your copy of the paper here. We are very grateful to all of you who collected data for us and the production of this paper is a real credit to you and your hard work.
As many of you may know, I am now a Research Fellow in Deakin University (new email is
m("deakin.edu.au","g.cleary");">m("deakin.edu.au","g.cleary");">). Working with a team here and Prof Darryl Jones from Griffith University, we will
expand on the Bathing Birds Study to run The Australian Bird Feeding and Watering Study, where we will investigate birds visiting feeders as well as baths. We are developing a fancy “all bells and whistles” on-line database which will make recording birds
a much more user friendly and enjoyable for you. We plan to run the study in July and I cannot wait for it to start, as I really look forward to working with you all again!
I will be in touch closer to the time and hope you will be aviliable to take part in this exciting new piece of reseach.
Wishing you all the best
