Back during early December, on the river adjacent to beautiful downtown Queanbeyan, we saw what appeared to be the desiccated carcass of a Little Pied Cormorant. Its leg caught on a length of monofilament line, the other end of which was entwined on a tree branch.

 

Anyhow there it was, wafting back and forth on the soft summer zephyrs like a piebald pendulum or, if you would, a monochrome metronome. Tic toc, tic toc ...
