Yes. I made just a "Not certain suggestion of a juvenile Brown-headed
Honeyeater" to Ken's 2 photos. It was just a first option at a quick look.
Which is given as an option for Ken to consider. I detected a hint of a pale
nape mark. Photos can be good but can also miss or distort features. I agree
with Mark that it is a juvenile Western Gerygone. I reckon when you look at
Ken's & Con's photos, the 2 different birds look not very different.

Con,

Thanks for posting this, it shows a "classic" immature Brown-headed Honeyeater
moulting from its juvenile plumage - note the caramel colour in the crown - to
a first adult plumage - the darker brown feathers coming through in the crown.
The yellow is certainly from the flowers, it is not part of the bird's plumage.
The bill colour is also darker in an adult as is the eye ring. Stuart Rae
probably has an excellent selection of different plumages from birds in the
hand at Charcoal Tank NR and The Weddin Mountains NP.

Cheers,
Mark

There has been an ID question on a bird that was not an immature Brown-headed
Honeyeater. Attached please find image of one of the latter. This individual
may have picked up some yellow stuff from the flowers in the background.

Con
