A couple of months ago I had a report of a Latham's Snipe at a property
on Ryans Road, Wamboin.
Today, at a dam near the junction of Bungendore & Morrison Roads at
Bywong, where I have been monitoring the breeding of coots and oz grebes
this season, I saw two Latham's Snipe. Quite a thrill!
Also ... in Bungendore this morning (the fortnightly Southern Harvest
Farmers' Market - do visit!) there was a single, solitary Plumed
Whistling-Duck standing in a mixed flock of ducks at the Bungendore
Meadow dam. Very unusual to see just one. I checked all the local spots
for the rest of the flock, sans success.
