Basically, thanks for raising this.

I have followed this up with the eBird administrators and find the following.
  • There seems to be an issue with the phone app (which I use in the field) which overlooks preferences and the information reported reverts to the Clements names, including bad spelling such as 'Gray' and wrong names such as Maned Duck.  That will be reported to Cornell as a bug and hopefully resolved pdq.   I intend to continue to use the app - unless this error can't be fixed - so there may be a temporary continued appearance of nasty stuff in things I link.
  • The error was also evident in material I entered through laptops etc but not in the material at least some others recorded.  This was due to me entering through a US version of the site (the original USA one: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ ) rather than the EREMAEA based Australian site (the Australian *portal*: http://ebird.org/content/australia/ ).
I'd see it as important that all Australian eBirders use the Eremaea portal to get names etc correct.  I have changed my bookmarks to ensure that happens from now on.

A formal trip report on today's outing to Lake Tuggeranong is on the COG website.  The editors of Gang-gang may wish to use that as the the trip report.  The bird list with counts etc can be accessed here.  I have compiled a blog post including some snaps and the expected witty repartee.

The March outing will be on 16 March 2016 with details on the COG website.  The editors of Gang-gang may wish to include that in the forthcoming trips area.
