Among various interests, I am something of a book person. Accepting an invitation to see the list of ‘the top 100 most searched-for out-of-print books’ for a recent year (USA) I looked down the list to see what interests today’s book reader
(USA). There are certainly some surprising interests out there. At first sight there don’t seem to be many bird enthusiasts looking for books, but of course one must remember that useful bird books do not go out of print: they are superseded, revised, updated
and reissued with ‘completely new illustrations’. One entry, at number 67, is for John D. Green’s ‘Birds of Britain’. While not without interest, it is not recommended for the COG member planning a tick-tour of the old country.
