While undertaking Rosenberg's Monitor fieldwork on Mt Ainslie this afternoon (walking from east to west around the mount along a high contour) I flushed a Boobook in a thick band of casuarina and eucalyptus.  The owl was as interested in me as I was in it.  We communed for a few minutes before going our separate ways.  Despite the small size of these birds, their wing area in flight impresses.  Photo attached.
