interesting.
I heard a call a couple of days ago (10.30pm) in north Ainslie and went outside to see what it was as I couldn't decide if it was a lost dog or a bird. Once outside,
the neighbour opened their door and put on the outside light and the call stopped.
A bird flew away - silently and with shallow wingbeat, level flightpath and wide wingtips. I only saw it for 1 or 2 seconds in silhouette and estimate it somewhere
in size of a magpie.
Comparing owl calls on my Morcombe app, it was higher pitched than a female barking owl and one call started with a slight tremolo. Other than that it had the 2 calls
at a time sequence.
Could it still have been a Barking Owl or something different all together?
Susanne
I have just seen a Barking Owl on the (new insulated) power lines behind our house in O'Connor. Like all respectable birds it departed southwards into Turner after glaring at me for about a minute.
