Nursery Swamp

Last Friday provided nice views of a number of birds, most particularly three sightings of male satin flycatchers.  They looked resplendent in full sun as their blue-black upperparts shone iridescently.  Unfortunately they successfully evaded the camera's nosy lens.

Several butterflies and other invertebrates were also seen, including a male mountain grasshopper.  The pic that I shared the other day on the chatline was the female; the male is much longer and thinner, but uses the same abdominal threat display.  Pic attached showing brilliant red and blue bands, and size of long wing covers.
