Observations - all aural - of Pacific Koel have continued in Carwoola on an almost daily basis.  There certainly seems to be a good level of interest in the local community.

The calls have been noted as coming from several spots which has led me to doubt whether it is in fact more than 1 bird and I have sought advice from a koelologist.  They have advised that in their experience the birds move around quite a bit during the day, and the only way to be sure you have >1 is to hear the calls coing from different directions simultaneously.

Thus I retract my comment that there are at least 2, and replace it with "At least 1 Koel appears to have taken up residence in the Carwoola area for several days.  In past years the birds have only been heard calling for one or two days before moving on."

There are at least 2 Koels in the Carwoola area today.  One on Widgiewa Rd and the other on the Hoskinstown Plain.

I have issued a ukase for reports of any large honeyeaters or Magpie Larks feeding unusual looking offspring.
