So far as I know, the reports here of White-cheeked Honeyeaters are the first for the ACT.

I trust that an Unusual Bird report form will be submitted to the Rarities Panel so that the species can go onto the ACT bird list.

- Comments: "Phylidonyris honeyeater observed to fly from thick melaleuca scrub into a flowering Eucalyptus leucoxylon. Bill long and black, decurved at tip. Iris dark brown. White supercilium extending from white lores over a black eye patch to the nape. Large white cheek patch on sides of otherwise black head. Throat and malar region entirely black. Black gorget across upperbreast and heavy black steaks on white underparts. Upper parts dark grey with some streaking. Large yellow panel in black wings comprised by yellow fringes to secondaries. No white tail tip. No vocalisation heard."
