In November there was mention of one and 3 around Kambah and Gilmore. Not by me. I have been waiting for those people to mention it to COG list. I have never
yet encountered the species in ACT so hardly a plague, although the history certainly suggests an increase over recent years. I am anticipating they may follow the Koels’ trend. So we might get a spate of attention about whatever is that bird. I recall years
ago the story and photograph from the NSW south coast newspaper written up of amazement of Currawongs feeding a Sea-Eagle!

Subject: [canberrabirds] another Channnel-billed Cuckoo
Morning all,
At 0708 this morning I heard the unmistakable call of a Channel-billed Cuckoo near, but not in, my GBS area. This is the second record of this species I have recorded in nearly 40 years of living in Kaleen. The local Sulphur-crested Cockatoos
appeared to take exception to the bird given the ruckus they were kicking up. Going by the reports on the chatline they are in plague proportions in Canberra this year – or is it just one bird circling the northern parts of Canberra!?! An Incidental COG report
form will be filled in.
