Most of its latest song stays close to the one middle note with just the slight upward inflexion at the end. And I think that probably makes it a male Koel (based on a link I was sent last night to Koel calls).
The other song which did a scale to high urgent whistles might have been an alarm call. Anyhow, apologies for initially describing the aberration and not the norm ...
