Just wondering does COG wish for a datasheet from people’s home area – although I am asking in respect of myself - but the question may be general. My home
area (i.e. equivalent to GBS) for the purpose of including in blitz. Main motive is to include 3 breeding species but as they are already on my GBS chart it is doubling up. Also as they are Pied Currawong, Magpie & Magpie-lark, there will already be many blitz
related breeding records for them.

Subject: [canberrabirds] COG bird blitz post mortem
Whew! My inbox is simply groaning with shared data and it will take me a (delightful) while to work my way through it. A huge thank you to all who participated in our across-the-ACT count over the weekend. Even if you didn’t find anything
too exciting, every little piece of the jigsaw helps to give us a better picture of our birdlife. And weren’t we blessed with excellent birding weather.
My own blitz (Cotter Hut Rd and Lake Ginninderra peninsula on Sat, Hawker ovals and Tidbinbilla on Sun – 24hrs!) was pretty satisfying. Highlights a female Spotted Quail-thrush on Fishing Gap trail; a Bassian Thrush near Cascades Trail
(there in the same spot on my return); a Rose Robin in Camelback carpark; a whipbird and a lyrebird from Gibraltar Rocks; a fascinating Flame Robin nest about two feet up a roadside bank, in dense vegetation. But not a single raptor. At least, not one identified,
as I was dodging Fitz’s Challenge cyclists at the time. As I process returns, I’ll post occasion updates on this chatline and ultimately prepare a paper for CBN. Again, thanks to all who made our annual blitz a success. I’ll get around to contacting you all
eventually. b
