I should have mentioned that the only breeding record I scored was 3 very cute Pacific Black Ducklings swimming down the Molonglo with Mum and Dad.

Campbell Park Blitzing was fruitful this morning but not as numerically fruitful species-wise (for me) as Martin's sites. Over a dozen species doing breeding activities including a Western Gerygone - my first observation of this species in CP this year. A Noisy Friarbird was cobbling together the very first strands of a nest: in the heart of Noisy Miner territory, so not sure how that is going to go.

The Varied Sittellas which had fledged young previously are now doing nest refurbishment.

A visiting couple from Wales and a person from Basingstoke reminded me that (a) it is fun to talk with birdos from distant lands and (b) birds are a tourism value.

I did three sites along the Molonglo Gorge this afternoon.  About 30 sp in total, withe best birds being Sacred Kingfisher and Eastern Yellow Robin.  For the general naturalists, I thought the flowers were rather spiffy.

Having a little time to spare I waded through the wild oats of Beard to look down into pond 3 of the queanbeyan poo pits.  Still a lot (387) of Coots but 2 Pink-eared duck and 1 male Musk Duck were the highlights.

Total 48 sp. for the day, and 4 sheets submitted and shared by eBird.
