Some of you may not have seen the mention of next Wednesday's walk to Rose Lagoon in the Canberra Times this morning.  So there is your opportunity!

I am expecting this to be quite a long visit, and it is a fair step from Canberra, so have plenty of water with you and some lunch.  We will meet at the rest area at 9:00 am on 21 October.  Parking will be in a paddock adjoining the rest area through a locked gate to which Rob Hunt has kindly given me key.

Mr T2 has suggested car pooling at the Powl site (Haig Park @ McCaughey St).  I suggest on the basis of Google maps suggested timing that leaving there at 8:10 would get you to the rest area on time.  There may be alternate pooling for the Tuggers folk.  I will be leaving Mick Sherd Oval in Bungendore (off Gibraltar St, opposite the Police Station) at 8am for anyone that wishes to pool from there.

I would draw your attention to the references to Tiger Snakes in John Thistleton's article.  Frank Antram was out there last evening and saw one Tiger - noting it an unusually low count.  This is prime Tiger habitat so everyone should wear thick trousers and/or gaiters as well as foot-covering shoes.  Herpetophobes should probably give this walk a miss.

Frank also saw two Australian Bitterns!
