Morning all,

I see in the Birding-aus Digest that I received overnight that a newly published scientific paper shows that the Pacific Robin (Petroica multicolor) is definitely split from the Scarlet Robin (P. boodang). Will those in the ACT Government now use the CORRECT scientific name for the local Scarlet Robin as I suggested some time ago, supported by two very prominent local taxonomists, one of whom is a joint author on this current paper, or does the Department have its own taxonomists?. COG’s submission to have the Scarlet Robin listed as a Threatened Species did use the name correct name P. boodang but for some stupid reason it was not followed by those in the ACT Government. Using Christidis and Boles as their authority shows that they are not keeping up with the times.

Mark
