There's some mapping of the Nature Reserve in OSM though needs more work; I intended to go out there at some point to finish off the area in question in a couple of months though Cuumbeun is actually in three areas, one north of Captain's Flat Road, one south of it and another right down next to Googong.

Indeed thanks to Marnix and Christine.  Particular thanks to Julienne who was at the gate on Captains Flat Rd and showed us where she'd just seen the bird barely inside the Reserve to the left of the start of the Link Trail: no more than 30m from the fence.  After a few frustrating sightings of a shape zipping from bush to bush it climbed into an Acacia rubida, about 2m off the ground and gave good views while singing its heart out.  Then vanished and couldn't be relocated.  We walked to the junction with the Qbn River FT but no joy there, and none when we tried again near the gate.
