I do irregular informal surveys at one end of the Hume industrial area - roughly the area from Tralee St to Couranga Cr. There are a couple of larger constructed wetland areas, a small old farm dam and a sometimes wet gully alongside part of Tralee St, as well as an area of woodland on the bend of Tralee St.  This morning I spent an hour walking the area, and as well as the usual suspects, there were two brown falcons, approx 45 red-rumped parrots, 2 black-fronted dotterels, a golden-headed cisticola (has only appeared there in the last week) and a white-faced heron.  22 species in total in an area which at first sight appears quite unlikely, with the Monaro highway right alongside.  Last week five pipits in one of the yet-to-be-developed cleared areas.
