I treasure both names (Rowe's Lagoon and Rose Lagoon) a permanent reminder that our early settlers were illiterate.

I have abandoned all hope of getting proper use of the apostrophe in Rowe's, as it has been outlawed by the ignorant peasants who run RMS in NSW.

The official gazetted name is Rose Lagoon – see http://www.ga.gov.au/place-names/index.xhtml# and extract below.

 

My understanding is that the adjacent property and veterinary practice is named Rowes Lagoon, perhaps as a play on words, perhaps with legitimate historical links, I don’t know.
