My first thought is a young White-bellied Sea Eagle. They nest around that part of the coast.

Subject: [canberrabirds] Raptor ID help, please

Good morning all

Can I have your thoughts on an ID for this bird, please. It was over the ocean, just off the beach, at Mollymook on Monday. I thought the markings looked like a Whistling Kite, but I've had a wise-sounding suggestion that it could be a juvenile White-Bellied Sea Eagle (the location certainly fits for a Sea Eagle).

Many thanks

Matthew
