have just watched them eating lerps off leaves in top of the red gum in my back garden for about 5 mins. there's a lot of competition at present -numbers of noisy friarbirds and red wattlebirds doing the same thing, as well as half a dozen of the noisier rainbow lorikeets. The wattlebirds are being kept busy trying to chase everything away, including spinebills trying to feed in the eremophila below the euc.  Begging young of little corellas last week - their parents also seemed to be after lerps.
