Are you sure its a Pied Butcherbird? The photo looks more like a Grey Butcherbird to me. (Grey are much more common in the ACT region.)

They have come by in spring for the past 3 years en route to Palmerville or further .I didn’t see them this year but today a juvenile showed up ( thanks to the White plumed honeyeaters my resident alarm bells  , now up to 6 ) carolling sounding like a sweet gargle which causes you to  leap for the binoculars wishing for anything exotic…when you are a novice that is.
