We have had a juvenile koel in our garden since 16 Feb - fed by wattlebirds.  Yesterday, an adult male koel visited the garden briefly, calling several times ("whirra" call).  The juvenile (which usually begs constantly) sat quietly in a nearby tree during the adult's visit.

When I commented in my email yesterday that the last time I heard the Kaleen Koel was Saturday, who should pop up calling at 0628 this morning but the Kaleen Koel, so he is still around. I gather from an email sent to me by Jack Holland that both Barbara A and Christine D still have Koels around. In fact Christine sent me an email that she had 4 Koels in her garden yesterday. I will keep an ear out to see if the local bird calls any more over the next few days.
