Yes of course there is something about both these species in The GBS Report but nothing about a juxtaposition about them, or mention of predation. At the time I wrote it, the occurrence of the RL here was very confusing, still is a bit (so they are quite opposite). There was a good reason the Hobby is on the cover and not just because I had my painting to put there. I saw a Hobby at Tuggeranong yesterday near the sports centre. This is the best month, as with White-throated Needletail which I am still waiting to see for this summer. None so far for me, though I did see thousands of swiftlets last month (in Philippines - large flocks almost every day) .

Also at Rocky Knob this morning, a hunting hobby, possibly attracted by the lorikeets.  These are occasionally seen in the suburbs.  I wonder if there is anything about that in The GBS Report …
