Re Jack Holland's observation in Gang-gang that there had been few
reports of fledgling Koels this season: after a month of hearing adults
call daily from a wattlebird breeding territory abt. 150m from here,
Daryl reported seeing one being fed there on 25th Jan. They moved to our
garden (into the territory of our local wattlebirds) and finally sat in
view, high (and backlit) in a Liquid Amber tree.
Here are 3 photos, one showing the comparative sizes of the birds, one
of the Koel's face and the last, feeding.
I saw a large huntsman spider being shovelled in but much smaller
morsels as well.

The resident pair of wattlebirds constantly harass the interlopers; not
effective as they're still here.
