Very interesting observation Martin, and possibly (probably?) another
example of fledged young of this cuckoo species associating/interacting with
adults (I noted two apparent examples of this in my December Gang-gang
column). Was the brief call made the normal one for this species?
I am interested in this phenomenon, particularly in Koels as I raised in my
chat line post during last week.

site has just been visited by 4 Horsfields Bronze-cuckoos. 2 had almost
unbarred breasts but all were chasing each other around the canopy of some
moderate sized eucalypts making brief version of their call. I'd
normally regard this as display.
