At 06:45 today, I heard an unfamiliar call coming from a Cottonwood behind the Kippax shops, just above the Holt Playing Fields. Had me puzzled until I located the bird as I’ve rarely heard koels in Holt. My car was parked close by so I sat listening and watching but saw no other koel.

Koel jnr. was still there calling when I left 15 minutes later.
