Again thanks to Terry for
sending me the information on the owl. I went down at around 3 pm with Warren
Martin, known to many COGites from his time in Canberra, and had no trouble
finding the owl – the dead giveaway were the 7 or so people all peering skywards
with large camera lens!! Warren commented that it was a long time since he had
seen a Powerful Owl so was very happy. I went back down with my wife at around 4
pm and there larger than life was THE Geoffrey Dabb with his big telephoto which
my wife thought might put her little Lumix to shame, and a lady with two young
children. My wife still managed some very good photos and we are both happy with
her shots.
Once again, thanks
Terry.
Cheers,
Mark

Owl
Has moved from customary position but definitely there at
1045 today. Approach the large oak tree from the exit road ( next to Haigh Park
) just past a grey metal sub-station structure near to a low treated pine fence
and look up to heavy branches reaching towards the building roof. There is a
good clear view of the powerful owl, certainly awake and glaring downwards with a
ringtail possum clutched in it's talons

Good morning Terry,
A friend of mine from Armidale is in town at present and we
are going to try for the Powerful Owl in Turner. Could you give me the basic
directions on where to look for it please.
Happy New Year and thanks,
Mark
