Ride before the storm.

North Weston Ponds (below RSPCA) plenty of water birds, including 30+ Pink-eared Duck, 2 White-faced Heron, Hardhead, young and older Hoary-headed Grebe, 1 Black-fronted Dotterel enjoying the cement drain, Australasian Coot, Black Duck, Wood Duck, 2 Silver Gull.

Along the cycle track towards Scrivener Dam, 1 Dollarbird in bright colour, heard 2 Golden-headed Cisticola.

Not so easy to see from the northern side of the river, and well hidden were three Little Pied Cormorant and three Darter sitting securely on nests, attended on and off by what I presumed to be their partners with   possibly one grubby young bird in nest.  Five of these nests were close together on the same tree – suitable perches being scarce. 1 Great Cormorant in the vicinity.

An enjoyable morning

Jean
