The Dollarbird seems a possibility, Neal, or, on reflection, perhaps a very small Black Swan

Subject: [canberrabirds] Mystery bird
Hello,
I am a new member and would like a little help in identifying a bird I saw recently.
It was not in Canberra though but adjacent to our bush block south of Araluen and in the Deua NP.
The bird was in flight so I only saw it for a short period of time.
It looked a little like a Chough but was slightly smaller. It was nearly all black with white wingtips (about 3cm). There was no black edging on the wingtips however as in the Chough.
It appeared to have a short red beak.
I have searched a lot of references but cannot find anything that looks like it.
thanks for any help.
Neal Gowen
