At Wanniassa, down near Erindale.
For a brief minute this morning I thought I could hear a chiming wedgebill in either my or the next door neighbours’ garden.
As I went outside the magpies (on whose land I am permitted to reside) chased a bird away. The bird would have been smaller than a magpie lark, more slender, darkish and faster than the magpies.
And that is the end of the story.
I would have thought this was way outside the chiming wedgebill’s territory. Recently, while in Carnarvon, I often heard this bird, and the locals confirmed its ID, though I did not manage a photo of it.
Any suggestions as to what it really was?
