For my sins, a Koel has taken up local residence. While listening to its
plaintive tones at about 4.30 this morning, the following wording (hopefully
more or less original) came to mind, to the tune of The First Noel...
The first Koel
The angels did say
Came to torment poor birders
In their beds where they lay
In their beds where they lay
a-counting the sheep
On a hot summer's night
When they couldn't sleep
That's all I managed before the fiend went quiet. Further additions welcome.
