A Powerful Owl has been reported from Feathertop St. Palmerston by Brenda Allan. This evening she said one was in their backyard a couple of years ago. No precise date given. It was there for half a day. It draped the carcase of a bird or mammal on the metal bar of the clothesline and came back after half an hour and devoured it. There are 2 large Chinese elms in their yard where it could have hidden. She saw the powerful talons and fine black markings on the feathers. She researched and decided it was a Powerful Owl. There was a small pool in their backyard that attracted many birds.
