We have one just outside our place in Kambah. I've heard it over the last week or so and glimpsed it briefly once. It was calling just a minute ago (9.30 pm) and I heard it when I was at the local petrol station about 4.00 am on Saturday morning.

Good morning

Last (very wet) night at 9.30, the Holder Koel was calling for some time – very persistently and mournfully. I usually let our dog out about that time, and have never previously heard the bird calling then. Do Koels usually call at night? I have only heard this one in the day time before.
