Yesterday and today on West Basin, Lake BG there is a pair of Black Swans with three very young cygnets.  The young ones are sitting securely in the feathers on their mother’s back as she swims across the lake.  I don’t see any reference to that behaviour in HANZAB which made me wonder if it’s common.  I’ve seen other swans with young on the lake this Spring but I haven’t see the cygnets riding on mothers’ backs before.
