At my place, after several weeks of both Eastern & Crimson Rosellas inspecting the nest box in my tree, it looks likely that the Crimson Rosellas have eggs in there as only for the last few days one has spent long times in the box. So your lot is far ahead of mine. There is a Pied Currawong nest higher in the same tree. Maybe that slows them down. Last year Eastern Rosellas used it successfully and the year before Crimson Rosellas used it successfully.

I have hardly had a Myna or Starling in my GBS area all year and that was only flying past. Years ago there was barely a minute without these birds actually in the yard.

Hi everyone

I have had a pair crimson rosellas nesting in my eaves and then in a nesting box on the wall of my house in Watson for the last 6-7 years.  This year, for the first time, I have compromised their privacy by installing a webcam in the roof of their nest box.  If you are interested, there is a series of ‘rosellacam’ photos and videos on my facebook page with public settings:   https://www.facebook.com/jacqui.malins.1

They cover from the first appearance of one egg, to their rapid multiplication, though to hatching and now the initiation of parental harassment.  If they all survive, the box will be a bit like a sardine-tin of rosellas before long…

They aren’t rare or unusual specimens, but I am certainly enjoying watching them!

Jacqui
