I’m currently away from Canberra, but Andrea reports that today she and our daughter Allison were walking past the big tree at the dam at the end of Kathner St Chapman with our dogs, when an adult Wood Duck suddenly landed in front of them, followed by a number of ducklings parachuting down from a presumed nest hole.  The parent, presumed mother, then did a classic broken wing act, before she returned to her brood and walked with them into the neighbouring horse paddock.  Luckily the dogs didn’t react at all.

It’s a well described event, but one I’m personally yet to witness.
