You can blame me for the cows. The riparian strip since it has been fenced has
been withdrawn from the graziers licence. Grazing is only done if required by
ACT parks and this normally takes the form of crash grazing ie knock it down
and out again.
I opened the gate on Friday - peninsula and corner opposite hospice won't be
grazed. Looks like cows work better than the 'No Unauthorised Access' sign !!
might have to invest in a bull .....................
Cattle will be in for a couple of weeks.

I am amused to read this Marnix. I have just returned from there. I also ran
the gauntlet of the first twenty or so cows and calves but the other thirty
were densely crowded on the track. The cows seemed relaxed but the calves were
spooking so I also abandoned the venture. A pair of Flame Robins made the trip
pleasant, along with four Cattle Egrets. At the hides, a pair of Australasian
Shovellers also made good viewing.. But that was it.

Tried unsuccessfully to reach the Azure Kingfisher spot yesterday and today.
It seems the farmer has let all his cattle out of the main paddock and on to
the riverside track section. Wasn't game to run the gauntlet of 50 cows and
calves. Looks like I'll have to try again next weekend.
Still some Cattle Egret present.
Cheers
Marnix
