forwarding to canberrabirds an extract from one of several notes on birding-aus, commenting on news of the death of Ken Simpson.  Apart from being the Simpson of "Simpson and Day", Ken was a member of COG for over 10 years from the early 1990s to mid 2000s.

    I am very sad to hear of the recent death of Ken Simpson, on Wed. 9th July. I first met him when we were both a lot younger, at a BOC study meeting - he was, I think, speaking about petrels and other sea-birds.
     Most of us have a copy of Simpson and Day - mine has been well-used, and replaced at least once after some watery catastrophe.
