Just outside Gunning yesterday afternoon we saw a White-faced Heron perched on a road-killed kangaroo and pecking away at the abdomen.

 

HANZAB states they will take carrion but have never seen them doing so before. However, I’ve watched them landing in a lambing paddock but didn’t notice them take anything, probably because the omnipresent ravens sent them packing pretty smartly.
