On Sunday, during a brief sunny period, I took these photos of the four heron species currently around Giralang Pond. The Eastern Great Egret, White-faced Heron and White-necked Heron were all at the pond outflow - a popular place for herons. The Nankeen Night Heron was roosting on the island in the pond, where it can be found there most days. It can be found most nights fishing downstream.

Hi Denise

Sounds great!

Yet to see that one! As a newbie at bird finding I've only noticed the related White Faced Herons such as the one I snapped at Gungahlin Pond some months ago (March 2014): http://bit.ly/1kvmDYe

I guess it's the same sort of Heron as I've seen in Vincentia (January 2014): http://bit.ly/1kvmlRd

Enjoy
Harold
