Fruit and maybe insects. The part of the fig it has its beak in, is the weak spot on the skin and also I believe the entry point of small insects (either a dipteran or hymenopteran) that breeds in the fig fruit.

I took this photo yesterday.  A Yellow-faced Honeyeater feeding on my neighbour’s figs.  First time I have seen YFHE feeding on fruit
