A female Painted Button-quail appeared unexpectedly on Wed. 27 March around 5.15 pm in Wybalena Grove Cook. An overcast damp day.

The BQ pecked briefly in the cracks of old brick pavers then disappeared behind dianellas into the shrubbery, and has not been seen since.

Nicki Taws suggests it may have been driven out by recent hazard reduction fires in the Black Mt/Aranda woods areas.
