We had a record at the weekend of a suspected Powerful Owl here at
Wamboin (Poppet Road).
A resident found a large glider tail in her carport. No other parts of
the glider to be seen. No blood and guts, just the tail.
Might that be a sign of a Powerful Owl? In late 2012 one was reported
from close to there - seen and heard.

I was out side at about 9.30 tonight and heard an owl calling. It was
a call I had not heard before. Two notes, the second slightly
different to the first. "Whoo who" or something similar repeated
about 15 sec intervals.
I rang Martin Butterfield who lives about 10km East of me. I
described the call and he said "almost certainly a Powerful Owl".
I then looked up Pizzey and sure enough the description of the call
fitted.
Thanks for the assistance Martin. I am so pleased with this record,
the first for me at my home patch.
