Following a visit to the Bungendore Cultural Centre (known by some as 'the tip') I swung by the sewage works about noon today.  There were by my count 12 Plumed Whistling Ducks (PWD) present (which readily solved any issues over what to count as my Bird of the day for today).  Ther were also about 10 Pink-eared ducks, 2 Australian Shoveler, 20 Silver Gulls, many Grey Teal, Hardhead, Pacific Black Ducks and Australasian Grebes.  As David said it is becoming a drought refuge as just about all other water in the area has evaporated,

For those not familiar with the site I attach an extract from Google Earth,  Point 1 gives good views over the two ponds nearest to that point while the other 2 ponds can be readily seen from the road (taking care because the traffic along the road is very heavy, especially with folk coming back from the coast).  The PWD were at point 2.

The Bungendore Sewage Treatment Works seems to be a drought refuge at present (the water level in the dam on Trucking Yard Lane is very low, just room for a few Pacific Black Ducks, and as Michael Lenz has reported, Lake George no longer lives up to its forename).

This afternoon at the Sewage Treatment Works there were 13 Plumed Whistling-Ducks, 3 Pink-eared Ducks, Australasian Shovelers plus all the usuals.

Last Friday there was a flock of Silver Gulls there (unusual), 7 Pink-eared Ducks and 9 Aust White Ibis.
