Hi Geoff,

Nice illustration of the difference in gape!

On these pictures the shape of the beak appears significantly different. The upper mandibule of the intermediate egret drops significantly at the tip whereas on the great egret it is a rather constant “slope".
I assume you have lots of other pictures from other birds: is this unique to this intermediate egret?
