Then there is the reputed tendency of koels to call during rain, perhaps something better known in rainier localities where it is just ‘the rainbird’.  Nonetheless I believe there is more koel interactivity here when conditions are overcast and a shower ‘threatens’.  This seems to prompt the less usual calling in the later afternoon.
