If you read the signs showing frog photos around any of the urban ponds that
have them, it notes that all frogs, tadpoles etc are protected and it is
illegal to collect them.

Interesting questions considering how many I would have collected and
destroyed when I was young!
Consider guidelines:
http://www.adelaide.edu.au/ANZCCART/publications/T13_AnimalsinSchools.pdf
http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/media/downloads/animalsinschools/species/partb
_frog.pdf
And ACT Protected Native Animals:
http://www.tams.act.gov.au/parks-recreation/plants_and_animals/animal_licens
ing/protected_plants_and_animals/protected_native_animals
They don't appear to be protected, so it seems to be fine, but their now
seem to be some sensible guidelines about this, which is good.

A friend wants to know if it's illegal to take some tadpoles from a pond,
keep them in a tank at a school for a few days and then return them?
