The floodplain along Ginninderra Creek's a good resource for common birds.
The Leaden Flycatcher pair have a new nest and are sitting within 10m
of a fledged-yesterday Noisy Friarbird, an active Magpie-lark nest,
chattering Crimson Rosellas, Red-rumped Parrots, lots of juvenile Galahs, and
at least a dozen Red Wattlebirds. Double-barred Finches are feeding young,
there are Golden & Rufous Whistlers, Grey Fantails, BF Cuckoo-shrikes etc.
We saw 20 species in a very short walk along the Melba stretch.
Most interesting yesterday to see the first Oriole nest we've ever found.
It was in the Ginninderra Creek corridor in Flynn.
The birds were very wary, so I took these shots and moved away quickly.
